Abstract
Blood Bank of the Department of Biochemistry, National Medical Center has performed vast Amount of analyses of ABO blood groups, Rh typing and transfusion reactions in addition to the analysis of MN system during the last four years. The analyses of these data, reviewing incidence of gene frequency of ABO, Rh and MN groups, showed very interesting findings, which enabled the calculation of possible risk of ABO incompatibility and hemolytic disease of newborn infant by marriage in Korean population.
The main complaints of transfusion reaction in recipients of blood by ABO groupings were urticaria and fever, which comprised about 90 percent of the complaints. The incidence of transfusion reactions was very low in 0 group, 2 times higher in A and AB groups and 1.7 times higher in -B group than in 0 group.
